CURATING CRAFTSMANSHIP IN CULTURE ━━━━━━━

Curatorplug

In 2023, Molly launched Curatorplug—a digital platform celebrating African creativity and cultural innovation across art, music, fashion, film, literature, and emerging media. Curatorplug is a space where stories, visuals, and ideas converge to connect African creators with global audiences, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and inspiration.

The platform serves as both a showcase and resource, offering curated features, in-depth articles, and visual narratives that highlight emerging talent and untold cultural stories. By blending research, storytelling, and design, Curatorplug bridges the gap between creators, institutions, brands, and audiences worldwide.

Curatorplug’s mission is to:

  • Elevate African creative voices and showcase the continent’s diversity and innovation.
  • Create meaningful connections between creatives, institutions, and global audiences.
  • Provide inspiration, insight, and tools for artists, educators, cultural advocates, and enthusiasts.

Through Curatorplug, Molly collaborated with artists, collectives, cultural institutions, and brands, building partnerships that amplify reach and foster cross-disciplinary cultural exchange.

Égun – Os Mistérios do Mar (2015), by Helder Quiroga, is a 12–13 minute animated short featured on Curatorplug page. This film makes use of a silent, poetic style to explore grief, memory and spiritual heritage.

Set in a coastal fishing village, the film follows a fisherman’s journey as he seeks to understand his father’s death — a journey that reconnects him with the cultural and spiritual traditions of Afro‑Brazilian religion (notably Candomblé) and the mystical bond between the community and the sea.

“Égun” stands out for its evocative animation — simple yet emotionally powerful — its thoughtful soundtrack, and its sensitive treatment of loss, identity and ancestral memory.

Because of its strong aesthetic, emotional depth and cultural resonance, Égun deserves to be highlighted — and that is exactly why it’s the latest feature on Curatorplug: it represents the kind of meaningful, artful cinema that curator platforms seek to bring to broader attention.
